French Toast is my ultimate favorite breakfast, next to Homemade Belgian Waffles. You can make this the original way, or the lower fat make over.

Makes 12 servings
Original Recipe
10 cups cubed (1 inch) sturdy white bread (12 oz) <I have substituted Challah or cinnamon bread>
1 Pkg (8 oz) cream cheese at room temperature
8 large eggs
1 1/2 cups whole milk
2/3 cup half and half
1/2 cup maple syrup
1 Tbsp Cinnamon
1/2 tsp Vanilla extract
2 Tbsp Confectioners sugar

Healthy Makeover
10 cups cubed (1 inch) sturdy white bread (12 oz) <I have substituted Challah or cinnamon bread>
6 large eggs
4 large egg whites
3 cups whole milk
1/2 cup maple syrup
1 Tbsp Cinnamon
1/2 tsp Vanilla extract
2 Tbsp Confectioners sugar
Per Serving: 200 calories, 5.5 g fat, 28 g carbs, 9 g protein, 1 g fiber, 115 mg cholesterol
1. Place bread cubes in a 13x9 inch baking pan coated with Pam nonstick spray. If using cream cheese, beat it with an electric mixer at medium speed till smooth. Beat in eggs and low speed till blended. In a large bowl beat eggs and egg whites with a wire whisk till blended. Add milk (and cream if using), maple syrup, cinnamon, and vanilla, and whisk till smooth. Pour mixture over top of bread and press down gently into the egg mixture, making sure bread is completely coated; cover and refrigerate one hour or over night.
2. Heat over to 350'F. Remove bread mixture from refrigerator and press down lightly to re-soak bread; let stand on counter for 30 minutes. Bake until set, 45 minutes. Let stand 10 minutes after removing from oven, Sprinkle top with Confectioners Sugar and serve with additional maple syrup if desired. Makes 12 servings.
